Abstract: In the recent years, under the guidance of national policies related to energy conservation and emission reduction, the requirements of diesel engine are getting stricter. Water contamination in diesel is an important factor affecting the performance and service life of diesel engines. In this paper, the development trend of diesel-water separation materials and the principle of water-in-oil emulsion separation are described firstly. According to different wettabilities, some important research achievements in diesel-water emulsion separation in the recent years are summarized from the aspects of separation substrates, preparation methods, modification ways and separation efficiencies. Finally, the challenges and future research directions of this kind of materials are briefly discussed.
