Abstract: Neutrophils are the most abundant circulating leukocytes and the first line of defense against invading pathogens, and are the key component of the innate immune system. However, neutrophils also cause tissue damage in various autoimmune and inflammatory diseases and play an important role in cancer progression. Due to the complex relationship between various diseases and neutrophils, neutrophils have become an exciting target for therapeutic intervention. Molecular imaging refers to the quantitative, non-invasive and repetitive imaging of biological molecules in vivo, and monitoring the related biological processes of living organisms. This review will focus on two aspects: drug delivery with neutrophils as carrier and designing specific probes to target neutrophils.
