Study on Texture and Microstructure of Co During Phase Transformation

Abstract: The phase transformation temperature, microstructure and texturein pure Co block were analyzed using in situ X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM) and electron backscattering diffraction(EBSD) in the paper. The results showed that, As was about 400 ℃, Af was about 500 ℃, Ms was about 350 ℃, and Mf was below room temperature. The more undercooling degree and longer duration were needed during α→β phase transformation could be deduced. The main reason was the thermal enthalpy could not satisfy the interface and strain energy. Lamellar structure parallel to {0002}β formed as the stacking fault and anisotropy line strain. Meanwhile, the 70°〈1120〉 lath and 90°〈1120〉 wedge twin structure were born in order to eliminate the 0.6% bulk strain. The macro texture weakened correspondingly as more variants were occurred and twin structure was born.
