Abstract: ZnO nanoparticles were synthesized by using sodium dodecyl sulfate as surfactant, zinc acetate asprecursor through wet-chemical route in ethanol-water mixer solvent. The effects of reaction temperatures and ratio of surfactant to precursor on the formation process for ZnO nanoparticles were studied. The structure and properties of the obtained ZnO nanoparticles were determined by using UV-Vis absorption spectrum, transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and X-ray differaction (XRD) methods. The results show that ZnO nanopariticles with an apparent quantum confinement effects could be prepared by controlling an ambient reaction conditions. The synthesized ZnO nanoparticles give a wurtzite crystalline structure and sphercial morphology with the size in the range of 5—10 nm. The ZnO nanocrystals have a better anti-bacterial property.
