Preparation,Surface Morphology and Particle Size of the Nano-surface Modified Heavy Calcium Carbonate

Abstract: In order to decrease the edge angle and cleavage plane in the surface the of calcium carbonate particle, the nano-surface modification method was used in Ca(OH)2-CO2-H2O system, the nano-surface modified calcium carbonate was prepared and the surface morphology was investigated by SEM. The results indicated that the edge angle and cleavage plane in the surface of calcium carbonate particle decreased after modified in Ca(OH)2-CO2-H2O system, the particle size of the nano-surface modified calcium carbonate was larger than the calcium carbonate before modification, and the particle size of the calcium carbonate with diameter 500 mesh modified by the fatty acids was larger than that of the calcium carbonate sample.
