Abstract: 3-nitro-1,2,4-triazol-5-one(NTO)is an insensitive explosive with high energy as much as RDX, and becomes the research hot spot. NTO shows the strong acid because of the active hydrogen bond in the molecule structure, and the acid of the NTO is bad for the use in the insensitive ammunition. This article summarizes the research of application of NTO in mixed explosives and its research progress on acidity, and indicates that NTO explosive is suitable for melt-cast explosives and casting explosives, and is not suitable for pressed explosives.
