Study on Improvement of UV Aging Resistance of Thermoplastic Polyurethane After Oil Treatment

Abstract: Improving the UV aging resistance of thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer (TPU) adhesive layer after oil extraction is of great significance for outdoor application of soft oil storage and transportation equipment. In this work, the inorganic anti UV aging additive rutile nano titanium dioxide (TiO2) and polymer hindered amine light stabilizer 622 (HALS-622) were used as additives to blend with TPU to prepare films. After oil extraction, the films were subjected to UV aging for 300 h. Through UV visible spectrum, qualitative and quantitative analysis of infrared spectrum, mechanical properties and color difference analysis and testing, the results show that HALS-622 would be partially extracted and dissolved under the action of oil, which affected the oil resistance and UV aging resistance of TPU. TPU/TiO2 samples have smaller color difference changes and more stable mechanical properties after UV aging. This study refined the application of TPU in petrochemical industry, and provided an experimental basis for the improvement of oil extraction and UV aging resistance of TPU.
