Preparation of Polyurea Insulation Coating for Waterproofing and Its Properties

Abstract: A polyurea waterproof coating were prepared from HDI trimer, modified D2000 and chain extender such as E300 as raw materials. By adjusting the molar ratio of modified D2000 and chain extender, the optimum synthesis process were studied. The FT-IR results have showed the modification mechanism of amino terminated polyether and molecular structure of polyurea coating. It was found that the polyurea coating had excellent water resistance and waterproof performance by comparing the volume resistivity of the coating before and after immersion in 50 ℃ water and after drying. The breakdown voltage, hardness and tensile strength test showed that the insulation performance and mechanical strength of the polyurea coating were increased with the increasing of hard content, and the polyurea of E300 as the chain extender were better on comprehensive performance than others. Combing with the elongation at break test found that when the molar fraction of E300 is 86%, the coating has good ductility and the elongation at break is 28.72%. At this time, the volume resistivity of coating film is 8.2×1010 Ω·m, breakdown field strength of coating film is 96.73 kV/mm, Shore hardness of coating film is 52.
