Abstract: Three kinds of treatment agents were used to modify the surface of carbonyl iron powder samples,and the effect of compound auxiliary agents on microstructure and electromagnetic parameters of carbonyl iron powder samples after surface modification were studied. The results showed that a layer dense and uniform organic insulating film was formed on the surface of carbonyl iron powder by applying the compound auxiliary agents, which could reduce the permittivity of carbonyl iron powder effectively,increase the imaginary permeability,enhance the electromagnetic matching performance of absorbing materials and ameliorate the low frequency absorption effect of absorber. According to the transmission line theory,the reflection loss (RL) of absorbing material was calculated.When the thickness was 2 mm,the reflection loss peak reached -15 dB near 2 GHz for carbonyl iron powder modified by three kinds of auxiliary agents, the effective absorption bandwidth was 1 GHz (1.6-2.6 GHz) when the RL<-10 dB.It indicated that the carbonyl iron powder had preferable low frequency absorbing performance for radar wave.
