Abstract The V-Ti-Cr-Fe alloys were prepared by electrothermal reduction method, and influences of CaO and Al-Ca alloy addition amounts and refining agent compositions on metals recovery rates and alloys compositions were investigated. The results showed that, when m(CaO)/m(Al) is 0.9, m(Al-Ca)/m(Al) is 0.5, the recovery rate of Ti can reach 66%, and the impurities content are lower, Al and O content can reach 3.66% and 0.75% respectively. The spray refining processes were carried out to reduce the impurities contents of Al and O in the prepared alloys. When the 90%(3CaF₂-CaO)-10%V₂O₅ slag was used as refining agent, a good refining effect can be obtained. The Al and O content dropped to 1.23% and 0.59% respectively. SEM results also showed that the refining process can remove oxide inclusions effectively.
