Profile
Materials Reports (MR, 材料导报, Cailiao Daobao), an academic journal founded in 1987 and sponsored by Chongqing Southwest Information Limited Company (the former Southwest Information Center of Ministry of Science and Technology), now publishes semimonthly and features top-quality reviews and research reports at the cutting edge of materials scientific and technological innovation. After years of efforts, Materials Reports now enjoys high popularity in China’s materials research community and owns a great line-up of readers. The current chief editor is Professor Huang Wei, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Materials Reports mainly features selected reviews which focus on the latest scientific and technological advances as well as industrial application of the varieties of new materials, and research articles which present original, innovative experimental and theoretical endeavors and achievements.
Materials Reports is now included in EI Compendex (EI), Scopus, Chinese Science Citation Database (CSCD), Chemical Abstract (CA), Ulrich's Periodicals Directory, Japan Science and Technology Agency Database (JST) etc. According to Chinese S&T Journal Citation Reports (2013—2023) provided by Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of China (ISTIC), the total complex score of Materials Reports has kept for 11 years the No.1 ranking within the China’s comprehensive materials S&T journals.
In recent years, owing to the considerable increment in manuscript quantity submitted to Materials Reports, the journal has successfully elevated the criteria for paper acceptance and achieved the steady rising of rejection rate. Aiming to keep high level and impact of the journal, the Editorial Office of Materials Reports has established an editorial board of 146 distinguished scholars and attracted nearly 2,000 permanent peer reviewers.

Themed issues
Since 2016, Materials Reports started to deliberate on and establish themed issues, concentrating on engineering structural materials for national key projects or high-tech sophisticated equipment, and core functional materials for cutting-edge devices. Currently, the following themes have been published, we are gearing up for more attractive topics.
Aiming at promoting the impact and propagation level of Materials Reports and provoking the academic communication in research focuses, we have continuous desire to invite high-quality and state-of-the-art review articles from promising scholars in the materials research community for those themed issues.
Academic conferences
In recent years, we keep exploring various approaches to academic exchange based on the platform of Materials Reports. Academic conference is an ideal way for readers, authors, experts and scholars in materials related fields to get direct and deep communication. The Editorial Office of Materials Reports made its first attempt to conduct the “1st Academic Conference on Advanced Materials” in 2016, which is planned to be hold biennially. In 2017, we succeeded to organize the “1st Conference on Research and Application of Advanced Cementitious Materials”, which was co-organized by ASC Construction Materials Society, Chongqing University, Chongqing Jiaotong University. Moreover, in this year, the 2nd ACFAM will be held in Nanjing from November 2 to 4, co-sponsored by Editorial Office of Materials Reports, State Key Laboratory of Materials-Oriented Chemistry Engineering (Nanjing Tech University), School of Materials Science and Engineering (Southeast University), Science and Technology on Materials in Impact Environment Laboratory (Beijing Institute of Technology). In 2023, we succeeded to organize the “3rd Conference on Research and Application of Advanced Cementitious Materials”, and “Innovation and Development Forum of Rare Earth and Rare Metal Materials”. In the future, there will be more cooperation with societies and universities for academic conferences on diverse subdivision disciplines of materials. The Editorial Office of Materials Reports will take its responsibility and give full play to promote the development of materials community.
