Materials Reports (MR, 材料导报, Cailiao Daobao), an academic journal founded in 1987 and sponsored by Chongqing Southwest Information Limited Company (the former Southwest Information Center of Ministry of Science and Technology), now publishes semimonthly and features top-quality reviews and research reports at the cutting edge of materials scientific and technological innovation. After years of efforts, Materials Reports (MR) now enjoys high popularity in China’s materials research community and owns a great line-up of readers. Materials Reports A: Review Papers features selected reviews which focus on the latest scientific and technological advances as well as industrial application of the varieties of new materials. Materials Reports B: Research Papers mainly publishes research articles which present original, innovative experimental and theoretical endeavors and achievements.
Materials Reports (MR) is now included in EI Compendex (EI), Chinese Science Citation Database (CSCD), Chemical Abstract (CA), Ulrich's Periodicals Directory, Japan Science and Technology Agency Database (JST) etc. According to Chinese S&T Journal Citation Reports (2013—2017) provided by Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of China (ISTIC), the total complex score of Materials Reports (MR) has kept for 5 years the No.1 ranking within the China’s comprehensive materials S&T journals.
In recent years, owing to the considerable increment in manuscript quantity submitted to Materials Reports (MR), the journal has successfully elevated the criteria for paper acceptance and achieved the steady rising of rejection rate. Aiming to keep high level and impact of the journal, the Editorial Office of Materials Review has established an editorial board of 67 distinguished scholars and attracted nearly 700 permanent peer reviewers.
Citation and publication data of Materials Reports (MR) in the recent 4 years
(based on 2014—2017 Annual Reports for Chinese Academic Journal

Categorical distribution of the publication of Materials Reports (MR) within the past 3 years
Since 2016, Materials Reports (MR)started to deliberate on and establish themed issues, concentrating on engineering structural materials for national key projects or high-tech sophisticated equipment, and core functional materials for cutting-edge devices. Themed issues of “Two-dimensional materials” and “UHPC materials & engineering applications” have been published respectively in May and December, 2017. Currently, we are gearing up for more attractive topics. The following themes are in preparation and worth your expectation.
● 2018, Materials and Sustainable Development: Advanced Materials for Clean Energy Utilization
● 2019, Materials and Sustainable Development: Green Manufacturing and Processing of Materials
● 2020, Materials and Sustainable Development: Environmentally Friendly Materials and Environmental Remediation Materials
● 2021, Materials and Sustainable Development: Materials Remanufacturing and Comprehensive Utilization of Waste Materials
● High-tech Materials in Biomedical Engineering
● Corrosion and Failure of Materials
● Materials Genomics
Aiming at promoting the impact and propagation level of Materials Reports (MR) and provoking the academic communication in research focuses, we have continuous desire to invite high-quality and state-of-the-art review articles from promising scholars in the materials research community for those themed issues.
In recent years, we keep exploring various approaches to academic exchange based on the platform of Materials Review (MR). Academic conference is an ideal way for readers, authors, experts and scholars in materials related fields to get direct and deep communication. The Editorial Office of Materials Review made its first attempt to conduct the “1st Academic Conference on Advanced Materials” in 2016, which is planned to be hold biennially. In 2017, we succeeded to organize the “1st Conference on Research and Application of Advanced Cementitious Materials”, which was co-organized by ASC Construction Materials Society, Chongqing University, Chongqing Jiaotong University. Moreover, in this year, the 2nd ACFAM will be held in Nanjing from November 2 to 4, co-sponsored by Editorial Office of Materials Review, State Key Laboratory of Materials-Oriented Chemistry Engineering (Nanjing Tech University), School of Materials Science and Engineering (Southeast University), Science and Technology on Materials in Impact Environment Laboratory (Beijing Institute of Technology). In the future, there will be more cooperation with societies and universities for academic conferences on diverse subdivision disciplines of materials. The Editorial Office of Materials Review will take its responsibility and give full play to promote the development of materials community.
