Abstract Attapulgite (ATP), as a valuable naturally available one-dimensional (1D) nanomaterial, has some excellent pro-perties, such as non-toxicity, good thermal stability, large surface area. The thermal stability and mechanical properties of the polymer can be improved by the combination of the polymer and the attapulgite. In this paper, the attapulgite modification method and the preparation of polymer/attapulgite nanocomposites are introduced, the research progress of attapulgite used in plastic, rubber, waste water treatment are summarized, and the application prospect of polymer/attapulgite composites is proposed.
