Research Progress on the Waterborne UV Curable Resins |

Abstract Replacing traditional solventborne resin system by the corresponding waterborne resin is an important way to make the coating industry more environmental friendly. This paper summerized the research progress of the waterborne UV curable resins used in the coating industry. The resin type, synthesize mechanisms and applying characters of the waterborne UV system have been introduced. Based on the recent development of waterborne UV curable resins, we have introduced the research progress on increasing the solid content, balancing the hardness and flexibility, designing dual cure system and improving the film properties of the UV curable resins. Finally, the future trends of this system have been envisaged.

About author:: Jinbin Lin received his Ph.D. degree in chemical engineering from the university of Nanjing Tech University. At present, he was mainly engaged in preparation of nanoparticles, surface modification of particles, application of modified particles and research of superhydrophobic coating, and he even published more than 10 papers in academic journals and conferences. Now he served as the r&d manager of SKSHU Paint Co., LTD. mainly engaged in the development of self-cleaning coa-tings and solar heat reflective thermal insulating coatings for external walls, and serves as the main technical leader of these projects. Kewei Xiang has received his Ph. D. degree in the College of Polymer Science and Engineering, Sichuan University. At present he mainly focus on the development of environmental friendly and functionized coating resin and additives. He has published more than 10 SCI articles and 5 papers as the first author. After graduation he has served as senior resin chemist in SKShu coating company and Allnex. Now he is the supervisor of new product devlopment in Xiang Jiang paint. He is resposible for the developments of high solids acrylic resins, waterborne epoxy resin and curing agents and polyaspartic resin in the polyurea coatings. |
