Abstract In order to obtain high quality 316L/CuCrZr composite plates, stainless steel plate with groove structure was designed, and 316L/CuCrZr composites with groove structure were prepared by vacuum casting.The bonding properties of steel-copper composite interface were studied by means of interface analysis and mechanical test.The results show that the alloying elements such as Fe, Cr and Cu in the 316L/CuCrZr matrix have interpenetrated and diffused at the interface, showing a zigzag diffusion zone. The diffusion region is about 600—750 μm, and there is no obvious intermetallic compounds. The microhardness near the interface bond is greater than that of the base metal.
