Abstract Nano-SiO₂ has been concerned by scholars in various fields due to its great application potential. Because nano-SiO₂ has the advantages of superior performance, low cost and simple preparation, nano-SiO₂ polymer composites are widely used in various fields because of good mechanical properties. In order to obtain the best mechanical properties of the nano-SiO₂ composited material, scholars have carried out detailed researches on the preparation methods of different kinds of morphology and diameter of nano silica and its influence on mechanical properties of the composite under different doping conditions in recent years. In this paper, the preparation methods of nano-SiO₂ with different morphology and diameter studied by many scholars are concluded. At the same time, the influence of nano-SiO₂ with different doping conditions on the mechanical properties of polymer composites is described. On the basis of the immature research at present, the future direction of industrial production is put forward.

About author:: Huiling Che is a 2017 undergraduate from west China college of stomatology, Sichuan University. She is currently studying in stomatology, under the guidance of associate professor Gao Shanshan. Her research has focused on oral resin materials with high mechanical pro-perties.Yuanyi Zhao is a 2017 undergraduate from college of polymer science and engineering, Sichuan University. He is currently studying in polymer materials and engineering, and doing cross-discipline subject under the guidance of associate professor Gao Shanshan. His research has focused on oral resin materials with high mechanical properties.Shanshan Gao is an associate professor and master tutor of west China stomatology college, Sichuan University, deputy director of prosthodontics department, West China Stomatology Hospital, Sichuan University, and secretary of the prosthodontics committee of Sichuan Stomatology Association. She has presided over 3 natio-nal and provincial projects and published nearly 50 papers, including 30 SCI papers. She has obtained 3 national invention patents and participated in the compilation of 6 monographs. She specializes in minimally invasive aesthetic restoration and occlusal reconstruction of overworn dentition.These authors contributed equally to this work.
