Abstract The control rod drive mechanism (referred to as “CRDM”) is an important component of the pressure boundary of the nuclear reactor power plant coolant system. As the core components of CRDM, latch arm has not been able to achieve domestic manufacturing due to strict technical requirements, high costs, and manufacturing difficulties. Based on China’s HPR1000 nuclear plant, this test studies and improves CRDM latch arm structure, materials and welding processes, the domestic 022Cr19Ni10N material is used, and the method of manual welding with oxyacetylene is combined. This experiment successfully realized the development of CRDM latch arm and provided support for the manufacture of CRDM latch arm of the three-generation nuclear power plant independently developed in China.
