Application of NTO in Mixed Explosives and Its Research Progress on Acidity |

Abstract 3-nitro-1,2,4-triazol-5-one(NTO)is an insensitive explosive with high energy as much as RDX, and becomes the research hot spot. NTO shows the strong acid because of the active hydrogen bond in the molecule structure, and the acid of the NTO is bad for the use in the insensitive ammunition. This article summarizes the research of application of NTO in mixed explosives and its research progress on acidity, and indicates that NTO explosive is suitable for melt-cast explosives and casting explosives, and is not suitable for pressed explosives.

About author:: Xiong Yang received his M.S. degree in June 2015 from Northwestern Polytechnical University. He graduated from Xi’an Modern Chemistry Institute in June 2018 with a master’s degree. From September 2018 to the present, he is studying for a doctorate degree in Xi’an Modern Chemistry Research Institute, mainly engaged in the research of mixed explosives. Xiaofeng Wang, Xi’an Modern Chemistry Institute, PhD supervisor, researcher. He graduated from Peking University in 1989 and joined Xi’an Modern Chemistry Research Institute in the same year.
