Abstract The lithium-based magnetorheological greases (MRG) based on different carbonyl iron(CI) content were prepared. The effect of carbonyl iron on the dynamic rheological properties of MRG, such as linear viscoelastic range, magnetorheological effect, structure modulus, were investigated under oscillatory shear mode by Anton Paar MCR302.The influence of the interactions between high CI content and thickener on MR effect and sedimentation properties of MRG was discussed. The results show that MR effect of MRG increases with the increasing of CI content, the structure density and modulus of MRG significantly enhances. However, the chain forming of CI under low magnetic field was influenced by the skeleton structure of MRG. To amend the relationship between stability and fluidity of MRG, the soap fiber is still the key factor under the high CI content.

He has published more than 40 journal papers. His research interests focus on the rheological properties, tribology properties and sedimentation stability of magnetorheolo-gical materials.
