Research Progress on Solder and Brazing Process of Silicon Nitride Ceramics |

Abstract Silicon nitride ceramics have important applications in many fields such as aerospace and energy because of their excellent properties such as wear resistance, high temperature resistance, high hardness, high thermal stability and corrosion resistance. However, the defects such as high brittleness and poor toughness need to be solved by using connection technology to prepare ceramic/metal composite. At present, there are many common ceramic connections, brazing, solid-phase diffusion, glass connection and the partially transient liquid phase-diffusion bonding, the selection of appropriate brazing mode and solder is an important factor to improve the strength of the final joint. In this way, it can not only make use of the excellent properties of silicon nitride ceramics, but also have the good plasticity and toughness of metal materials, meeting the needs of modern engineering application. The common ceramic connection methods and the research progress of silicon nitride solder are compared.
