| Study on the Coordination Crosslinking of Acrylonitrile-butadiene Rubber/Ceric Sulfate Composites |

Abstract Cerium sulfate(Ce(SO4)2·4H2O) was selected as the crosslinking agent and the acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber (NBR)/ Ce(SO4)2·4H2O composites crosslinked by coordinate bonds were fabricated via in situ coordination crosslinking. The structures and properties of the composites were explored respectively by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), swelling index, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), vulkameter and universal testing machine. The results show that the coordination crosslinking reaction occurs between NBR and Ce(SO4)2·4H2O. The reaction order was 1 and the apparent activation energy was 14.4 kJ/mol. Besides, NBR/Ce(SO4)2·4H2O vulcanizates had good mechanical properties. Ce(SO4)2·4H2O worked as coordination crosslinking agent and reinforcing filler in NBR. The curing system of coordination crosslinking has the advantages of simple formulation and process. It is feasible for the replacement of covalent crosslinking by coordination crosslinking in special domain.
