Abstract Composite phase change material possess excellent properties. How to evaluate the comprehensive performance of composite phase change materials effectively relates to the development of the technology and field of phase change materials. Based on the principle of efficacy coefficient method, the preparation technology and application performance of composite phase change materials were analyzed synthetically. Evaluation factors such as phase change latent heat, cladding rate, thermal conductivity coefficient, thermal stability, thermal efficiency, mass loss rate and activation energy were selected. Variation coefficient method was adopted to calculate the weight coefficient of the evaluation factors, and a comprehensive performance evaluation system of composite phase change materials was set up. Pentacosane/expanded graphite composite phase change material was taken for example, the mo-del was tested to predict the results which reflect the actual situation well. The comprehensive performance evaluation system has high reliability and practicability, and it can provide new ideas and methods for comprehensive performance evaluation of composite phase change materials.
