Abstract The influences of concentration of Mn(NO₃)₂, HNO₃, Pb(NO₃)₂ and solution temperature on PbO₂-MnO₂ co-de-position were studied by cyclic voltammetry using rotating disk electrode, and the theoretical optimum conditions of the PbO₂ and MnO₂ co-deposition were obtained. The experiments concerning the effects of rotation rate of the electrode on the co-deposition process of PbO₂ and MnO₂ indicate that the behavior of PbO₂ and MnO₂ co-deposition process is mainly determined by the electrochemical process. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was applied to observe the surface morphology of PbO₂-MnO₂ layer and the results confirmed the spherical structure of the PbO₂-MnO₂ layer. Besides, a ternary-phase-mixed crystal phase of α-MnO₂, α-PbO₂ and β-PbO₂ in the PbO₂-MnO₂ layer was detected by X-ray diffraction (XRD) technology.
