Abstract The desorption of sulfur compounds in fuel oil has been the focus of attention and research. Magnetic metal-organic framework composites Fe₃O₄-COOH@MIL-101 was prepared through solvothermal in situ, and it was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), etc. Based on dynamic adsorption experiments, GC (gas chromatography) was used to investigate the effect of the material on the desulfurization of two kinds of thiophene compounds, benzothiophene (BT) and dibenzothiophene (DBT). The results show that Fe₃O₄-COOH@MIL-101 composite materials have excellent properties of both MIL-101 and magnetic microspheres. The equilibrium adsorption capacity of Fe₃O₄-COOH@MIL-101 on the BT and DBT can reach 7.99 mg/g and 24.60 mg/g, respectively. It has a faster adsorption reaction dynamic and obeys second-order kinetics model.
