Synthesis and Application of Hydroxy Terminated Fluorinated Vinyl Polysiloxane |

Abstract By now, the room temperature vulcanized fluorosilicone rubber has been widely used. However, when its molecular weight is large, the activity of the hydroxyl terminated is often difficult to meet the requirements. In this paper, octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane (D4) and trifluoropropyl trimethylcyclotetrasiloxane (D3F) were selected as polymerization monomers, while tetramethyltetravinyl cyclotetrasiloxane (D4Vi) was used as an active group to introduce monomers. And deionized water and tetramethylammonium hydroxide ((Me)4NOH) were used as the end capping agent and catalyst, respectively. An anionic ring-opening copolymerization reaction could be carried out to prepare the hydroxyl terminated fluorovinyl polysiloxane with high viscosity. The effects of the amount of end capping agent and catalyst as well as the ratio of siloxane on the polymerization were investigated in detail. The molecular structure of the copolymer was analyzed by HNMR and IR. The thermal decomposition temperature of the copolymer was measured by thermal analysis. The molecular weight distribution of the product was tested by gel chromatography. The results show that the polymer yield is higher, with the fixed chain link ratio, catalyst dosage of the total monomer dosage 0.012%, and end capping agent dosage 0.285%. The coating test results prove that the coating formed by the polymer has a good curing property and an excellent hydrophobicity at room temperature.
