Abstract In order to provide the high viscosity modified asphalt required for drainage asphalt pavement and control its preparation cost, high viscosity composite modified asphalt was prepared by adding rubber powder, SBS modifier and high viscosity modifier. According to the performance indices including penetration, ductility, softening point, penetration index and dynamic viscosity at 60 ℃, etc., the effect of various modifiers on the performance of composite modified asphalt was studied, and the appropriate dosage was determined. The thermal storage stability of high viscosity composite modified asphalt was studied by the softening point difference method. Dynamic shear rheological test (DSR) was used to study high-temperature rheological properties of high viscosity composite modified asphalt. The complex modulus index (GTS) method was used to test the temperature sensitivity of high viscosity composite modified asphalt. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) were used to analyze the modification mechanism of high viscosity composite modified asphalt. The test results show that 5% SBS modifier, 13% rubber powder and 4% high viscosity modifier are suitable proportions, the prepared high viscosity modified asphalt has good high-temperature rutting resistance performance and temperature sensitivity performance, meanwhile meets storage stability requirements. There are physical blending and chemical reactions between rubber powder, SBS, high viscosity modifier and base asphalt.
