Study on Transverse Isotropy Parameter of Palm Fiber/Natural Latex Composite Mattress |

Abstract In recent years, as a mounting number of attention has been paid to green environmental protection and sustainable development, the natural fiber material has become a heated topic in research. Palm fiber/natural latex (PF/NL) composite mattress was prepared by production process of mattress, with the palm fibers (PF) as reinforcement and natural latex (NL) as matrix. Based on this process, this paper proposed a hypothesis that the PF/NL composite mattress had transverse isotropic. By designing three different mechanical experiments, five different material parameters of the PF/NL composite mattress could be measured. After that, we could establish the stiffness matrix of the PF/NL composite mattress and constitutive equation. On this basis, the finite element model built by the finite element software was used to verify the experimental results. The conclusion is that transverse isotropic model has high accuracy and credibility for the simulation of PF/NL composite mattress.

About author:: Songkai Zhanggraduated from the School of Mecha-nics and Construction Engineering in Jinan University with a bachelor's degree in engineering in June 2017. Now he is currently a postgraduate in the School of Mechanics and Architectural Engineering of Jinan University, conducting research under the guidance of Professor Yuan Hong. His current research interests are structural analysis and damage diagnosis of composite mate-rialsHong Yuanis the executive president of the School of Mechanics and Construction Engineering, Jinan University, the associate director of Institute of Applied Mechanics, the director of the Chinese Mechanics Society, the executive director of China Instrument and Control Society, Ph.D. Supervisor in Engineering Mechanics. In June 1994, he obtained a doctorate degree in solid mechanics from the University of Science and Technology of China. He has published more than 170 academic articles, which have been cited positively more than 800 times. He was included in the Elsevier China Highly Cited Scholars list for five consecutive years from 2014 to 2018. In the field of disaster reduction and prevention, he obtained a number of invention patents and successfully applied the results to the reinforcement of many bridges in Guangdong Province.His research inte-rests include elastoplastic mechanics, fracture mechanics of composite mate-rials, composite structure inspection and reinforcement, and instrumentation components. |
