Abstract More and more surfactants are used to solve the problems of pollutions in the groundwater, but they are easy to cause secondary pollution because of the difficult separation of traditional surfactants and pollutants. Switch surfactants can be separated and recovered by the subsequent corresponding conditions, which can effectively solve the problems of secondary pollution. While the realization of the reversible transformation of the switch surfactant requires the regulation of the corresponding environmental conditions to complete. The studies have shown that the reversible transformation of surfactants can be achieved by the changes of temperature, electrochemistry (redox), light, pH, CO₂/N₂ and so on. Therefore, the reversible regulation mechanism and solubilization mechanism of switch surfactants are reviewed in this paper, with emphasis on the trigger mechanisms such as redox, CO₂/N₂ and foam solubilization mechanism.

About author:: Chaomeng Dai, associate professor, College of Civil Engineering, Tongji University. More than 50 papers were published in core journals at home and abroad, including 36 SCI papers. He has edited a monograph. 25 national patents were applied for, 11 of which are authorized. He is an editor of the special issue of the Journal of Chemistry, the member of the ACS of the United States, the member of the special evaluation team in the field of urbanization and urban development in the outline of science and technology planning of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the member of the Chinese Resources and Environment in Germany. Besides, he is an editor of Jacobs Journal of Hydrology.
Yanping Duan, assistant researcher, Urban Development Research Institute, Shanghai Normal University. She got her master's degree in June 2008 in the School of Environment and Water Conservancy of Zhengzhou University, obtained Ph.D. in September 2011 at Tongji University, and was jointly trained in the Department of Environmental Engineering of Berlin University of Technology from 2009 to 2010. She is mainly engaged in the analysis of emerging pollutants in the environment, migration and transformation and pollution control technology. She has published more than 20 papers in core academic journals at home and abroad, applied for 6 patents, edited 1 monograph, participated in the compilation of 2 textbooks. She has been appointed as a member of Shanghai Geography Society, American Chemical Association, International Water Association.
Yan Li, graduated from Tongji University in July 2018. He is a graduate student in the Department of Water Conservancy, College of Civil Engineering, Tongji University, under the guidance of Professor Dai. At pre-sent, the migration mechanism and remediation methods of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in groundwater are his mainly research fields.
