Abstract Particulate matter pollution caused by industrial flue gas not only causes serious damage to the ecological environment, but also threatens human health and safety. Porous ceramics have many advantages such as high filtration efficiency, high temperature resistance, strong acid and alkali corrosion resistance and stable chemical performance, which are widely used in the field of industrial flue gas filtration. In this summary, the mechanism of ceramic dust removal technology was introduced, and the research progress of Al₂O₃, mullite, SiC and other porous ceramics was reviewed. Finally, the main problems and challenges in this research field were put forward, and the future development direction of this field was prospected.
