A Review on Soft Magnetic Composites Applying to Magnetic Cores of High Speed Electric Motors |

Abstract Soft magnetic composites (SMCs) possess high electrical resistivity and saturation induction, which have found wide application in high speed electric motors, switching power supply and electric industry, with an especially pronounced potential as the candidate materials for magnetic cores. The hotspots in recent years have been focus on new-type soft magnetic composites with high energy efficiency, small volume and favorable adaptability. This paper introduces the manufacturing techniques, structural composition, core materials and coating materials of the soft magnetic composites, elaborates the performance’s dependences on these factors, introduces the application of soft magnetic composite materials in electric motor, and also offers a brief presentation of the recent advances in SMCs.
