Abstract The types and preparation methods of cationic polymer emulsion are firstly introduced, and their merits and deme-rits are analyzed and compared. Then the applications of cationic polymer emulsion in the fields of textile, coating, papermaking, water treatment, biological medicine and so forth are elaborated. Finally, the developing tendency of cationic polymer mealsion is proposed.
