| Hydration Activity of Attapulgite Calcined at Different Temperatures |

Abstract The effects of calcination temperature (200~800 ℃) on the appearance, mineral composition and active SiO2 content of attapulgite were studied. The effects of calcination temperature on chemical bonding water, reaction degree, flexural, compressive and splitting strength of cement mortar were also studied. The results show that the calcination temperature changes the mineral composition of attapulgite, which affects the hydration activity of cement-based materials. The hydration activity of cement-based materials is best improved by calcining attapulgite at 500 ℃.

About author:: Jinsheng Yan, deputy chief engineer and director of R&D center of Chongzuo South Cement Co., Ltd. He is responsible for enterprise technology innovation and the industry-university-research cooperation with Zhejiang University and Guangxi University. He presides over or participates in the research and development of “high-performance cement-based materials and applications”, “calcium-based materials and applications”, “cooperative disposal of solid waste by cement kilns” and other projects, more than 10 national invention patents have been declared, including 7 authorized patents, and several achievements have been applied in practice.
Tao Shi, professor and doctoral supervisor of Zhejiang University of Technology. Director of the Institute of Civil Engineering Materials of Zhejiang University of Technology, member of the Party Committee of the College of Civil Engineering, and the third level of Talent Engineering of Zhejiang Province. In 2007, he received his doctorate in engineering from Tongji University. He presided over and participated in more than 30 scientific research projects. He has published more than 60 journal papers. He is also a reviewer of several academic journals. He visited Northwestern University, Kyushu University and Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands. At present, he is a member of China Green Building and Energy Saving Professional Committee, member of Building Technology Branch of China Architectural Society, member of Dry Mixed Mortar Professional Committee of Housing Materials Branch of China Silicate Society, vice president of Green Building Materials Branch of Zhejiang Green Building Association, and director of Hangzhou Silicate Society. |
