Abstract The commonly used techniques for preparing ultrafine SiO₂ are sol-gel method, hydrothermal method, chemical precipitation method, nitric acid oxidation method and gasification method. In this paper, the process, conditions and principles of preparing ultrafine SnO₂ powders by different methods are described. The characteristics and shortcomings of these methods for preparing ultrafine SnO₂ are analyzed, opening their future development prospects. Finally, it's pointed out that the key research directions should be to improve the preparation process of SnO₂ and further improve its purity.

About author:: Dianpu Ma, master degree, mainly engaged in the research of inorganic tin chemical powder materials and tin-based flame retardants. In 2018, he graduated from East China University of Science and Technology with a major in chemical engineering. In the same year, he entered the R&D Center of Yunnan Tin Industry Group (Holding) Co., Ltd. and joined the high-purity ultra-fine tin dioxide and tin-based flame retardant project teams. As the main researcher of the project, he participated in 2 provincial and ministerial projects, 3 internal R&D and enginee-ring projects, published many papers in academic journals at home and abroad, and applied for 4 national invention patents. The main research directions of the team include: high-purity ultra-fine tin dioxide; tin dioxide for electrical contact materials; tin-based composite flame retardants; flame retardants for flame-retardant particleboard; flame retardants for flame-retardant polymer materials; tin-based flame retardants coating; development of flame-retardant PP/ABS/PVC products.Youfu Pu, senior engineer, master degree, head of the New Tin Material Research and Development Department of Yunnan Tin Industry Group (Holding) Co., Ltd., is mainly engaged in the development and application of new tin material products. As the project leader or core member, he has undertaken more than 10 scientific and technological projects such as Yunnan Provincial Department of Science and Technology, Yunnan Tin Industry Group, Tin Industry Co., Ltd., and Yunnan Tin Industry Research Institute. He has published more than 10 papers in domestic and foreign journals and applied for 12 invention patents. He has a solid theoretical foundation and new product development experience in the field of tin-based new materials. In recent years, he has been mainly engaged in the research and development of tin-based new materials and industrial application promotion.
