| Study on Preparation and Properties of VCI Bimetallic Coatings for the Tower |

Abstract In this paper, spherical zinc powder, flake zinc powder and flake aluminum powder were used as fillers, inorganic resin was used as base material, combined with vapor phase corrosion inhibition (VCI) technology, a VCI spherical-flake combined inorganic zinc aluminum bimetallic coating was developed. Dip coating or spray coating was used to apply VCI bimetallic coating on steel sheet and angle steel components of towers. Use scanning electron microscope (SEM), thickness gauge, drop weight test, cross-cut test, salt spray test and ultraviolet aging test to characterize and test the microstructure and performance of the coating, furthermore, it was compared with the hot-dip galvanized sample. The results show that the main indicators of the developed coating such as adhesion and corrosion resistance are better than or equivalent to the hot-dip galvanized coating of iron towers, this is mainly attributed to the combination of VCI and the spherical-flake structure.
