Abstract Due to a series of excellent properties such as low density, high specific strength and good high and low temperature, Al-Li alloy has a wide application prospect in military and aerospace fields. However, the addition of lithium also leads to many disadvantages, such as low short transverse toughness, fracture toughness, thermal instability, especially extremely strong anisotropy of mechanical properties, which seriously affects the use of Al-Li alloy. At present, studies have shown that the crystallographic texture and the precipitated phase of the alloy are the main factors affecting the anisotropy of the mechanical properties of the alloy. So there are two ways to eliminate anisotropy: regulating texture type and adjusting precipitate phase. The texture type can be adjusted by changing the material state and rolling process before rolling. Adjusting precipitate type by changing alloy composition adjustment and aging process. In this paper, the causes of anisotropy in key mechanical properties of Al-Li alloys, the research on eliminating anisotropy and the corresponding measures are reviewed.

About author:: Shijia Hao, a master student of AECC Beijing institute of aeronautical materials. From Sep. 2013 — Jun. 2017, obtained a bachelor’s degree in material forming and control engineering from Liaoning Technical University. The main research work is the process design and performance improvement of aluminum alloy.
Zheng Lu, the doctoral research tutor of AECC Beijing institute of aeronautical materials. He has published more than 150 papers in academic journals at home and abroad, and applied for more than 20 national invention patents, among which 17 are authorized. The main research direction of the team is the research and development of high-performance aluminum alloy, Al-Li alloy, application research and the development and production of semi-finished products. Responsible for a number of scientific research projects, including “high performance third generation aluminum lithium alloy thick plate application technology development” and “aluminum alloy precision die forgings wheel technology application” and so on.
