Fracture Propagation Law of CFRP-reinforced Concrete with Pre-crack of Type I |

Abstract Two concrete specimens with pre-crack of type I were fabricated and three-point bending test was carried out. Carbon fiber sheets were affixed to the bottom of one of the specimens for reinforcement. The deformation measurement system was built with two CCD cameras. By using digital speckle technique, the extended characteristics, crack tip opening displacement and stress intensity factor of the pre-crack tip for concrete specimens were analyzed to study the CFRP reinforcement effect. The results show that the external CFRP reinforcement can increase the flexu-ral rigidity of concrete, significantly improve the bending capacity of concrete and delay the crack development. Under the same load, the CFRP plate reinforcement can reduce the propagation distance and width of the pre-crack tip of the test piece. The increase of the stress intensity factor of the crack tip of the concrete specimen reinforced with the externally CFRP sheet is less than that of the same unreinforced concrete specimen.

About author:: Yan Han received her B.E. degree in transportation and civil engineering from Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) in Jun. 1994, and she was appointed to the faculty upon graduation. She obtained M.E. degree in engineering mechanics from HIT in Jun. 2000 and Ph.D. degree in bridge and tunnel engineering from Beijing Jiaotong University (BJTU) in Jun. 2005. After graduation, she went to North China University of Technology (NCUT) to work. She visited and cooperated with the Department of Civil, Construction & Environmental Engineering of Marquette University in the United States from 2015 to 2016. She has published more than 20 journal papers as the first author and is a reviewer of several academic journals. Her research interests focus on assessment and reinforcement of existing bridges, seismic design of bridges, collision avoidance of bridges, vehicle-bridge coupling vibration, etc. She presided over projects on the National Natural Science Foundation of China and Beijing Natural Science Foundation. She acquired the award of the third prize of Beijing Science and Technology Progress. |
