Abstract The maded nitrogen alumina powders were used as raw material, a Y2O3 were used as the sintering additives, and AlON transparent cera-mics was prepared by pressure less sintering sintered from 1 750 ℃ to 1 900 ℃.The sintered AlON was promoted by using the HIP. Samples’ density was tested by Archimedes drainage method, method of three point bending was used to test the strength of AlON and hardness was measured by micro hardness tester. The mechanical properties and optical properties effected by sintering temperature characterization were analyzed.
