Abstract Cerium oxide has become a new kind of photoelectric material due to the chemical stability, non-toxicity and simple preparation. When combined with other materials, the performance of the composite materials as photocatalysts and electrode materials can be further improved. In this paper, the preparation of CeO₂-based nanocomposites with different morphologies, such as nanospheres, cubes, nanotubes and fibers, and their latest research progress in photocatalysis, supercapacitors and lithium-ion batteries are reviewed.

About author:: Yan Liu received her B.S. and M.E.degrees in Chemistry at Qufu Normal University (1999) and in Education at Capital Normal University (2008).She is currently an associate professor at Zaozhuang Vocational College of Science & Technology. Her research focuses on preparation and application of the ordered mesoporous mate-rials.
Guowei Zhou received his B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Chemistry at Shandong University (1986, 1989, and 2001). He carried out postdoctoral research in Prof. Young Soo Kang’s group at Pukyong National University (Korea, 2012—2013) and worked as an advanced research scholar in Prof. Shihe Yang’s group at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (2015—2016). He is currently a Professor at Qilu University of Technology. His research interests include the ordered mesoporous materials for catalysis, and energy conversion and sto-rage.
