| Research Methods of Wood Moisture Absorption Characteristics |

Abstract Wood, being a hydrophilic material with porosity, is susceptible to moisture absorption, causing it to swell and deform under high ambient humidity conditions. This adversely impacts the processing and utilization of wood. The investigation on wood hygroscopicity has always been one of the significant issues in the field of wood science. To discern the alterations in moisture content and dimension during the process of wood moisture absorption, researchers have employed various research techniques and approaches. Therefore, this paper presents a summary and comparison of various methods used for regulating environmental humidity and measuring wood moisture content, moisture state, moisture adsorption rate, and moisture adsorption thermal energy. Additionally, it includes a discussion of methods used to measure dimension and strain changes in wood. Finally, a summary of the current issues and recommendations in this field presents to supply some guidances for scientific research and practical production.
