Abstract This work studied the connection performance of steel grouting sleeve in prefabricated building with defects. It analyzed the influence of diffe-rent defects on the failure mode, amount of slip and bearing capacity of the grouting sleeve under tensile load, taking the defect location, defect size, defect distribution form and reinforcement eccentricity as variables. The test results showed that with the increase of defect size, the failure mode of the specimens gradually changed from tensile failure to reinforcement pull-out, and the tensile ultimate bond strength, residual bond strength and ultimate strength of the specimens were gradually decrease. The size of the specimen with uniform defects had a great inf-luence on the failure mode of the specimen. The influence of different defect with the same volume on the bearing capacity of the specimen was as follows: the eccentric anchoring defect > the horizontal defect > the central defect > the uniform distribution defect > the end defect. The influence of residual bond bearing capacity of the specimen was as follows: the eccentric anchoring defect > the horizontal defect > the uniform distribution defect > the end defect > the central defect.
