Experimental Study on Bond Behavior of Corroded Steel Bar to Concrete Under Reciprocating Load |

Abstract During the service of reinforced concrete structures, steel bar corrosion and reciprocating load lead to the deterioration of the durability of steel bar and concrete materials, which has an effect on the bond performance between steel bar and concrete. 48 reinforced concrete beam specimens with initial crack in the bonding zone were designed and manufactured to investigate the bond behavior between steel bar and concrete under the action of the reciprocating load history of four different amplitudes(0%, 10%, 20% and 30% of ultimate load) alone, four different levels of steel bar corrosion(0%, 3%, 5% and 7%) alone and coupling of reciprocating load and steel bar corrosion. The test results show that the corrosion of steel bars affects the failure state of specimens. In the process of applying reciprocating load, the increase of residual slip mainly occurred in the first six cycles, and it increased with the increase of the corrosion rate of steel bar and the amplitude of reciprocating load. The coupling condition further promotes the deterioration of the bond performance and the loss rate of bond strength increases with the increase of the corrosion rate of steel bar and the amplitude of reciprocating load. This study can provide a theoretical reference for the evaluation of the current situation of reinforced concrete members under corresponding working conditions.
