Abstract As we all known, tensile strength of cement-based materials is low in the steaming process, so it is difficult to direct measure the displacement and deformation. In order to solve this problem, this paper proposes to study the tensile properties of cement-based materials in the stea-ming process by direct tensile test and DIC technology. Two kinds of curing systems (steam curing and dry curing) and auxiliary cementing materials (ore powder and fly ash) are considered in the test, and the content of calcium hydroxide (CH) was measured by titration method at the same time. The results show that the tensile stress-strain curve of early age steamed of cement-based materials can be determined by the test method presented in this paper. The tensile strength f_t of cement-based materials in the steaming process lags behind the concentration growth of CH. On the basis of test results in the paper, it can be concluded that there is a linear relationship between lgf_t and CH concentration. The incorporation of fly ash and ore powder can reduce the hydration rate and tensile strength development of the cement-based materials, while the inhibition effect of fly ash is more obvious. Water vapor has a great influence on the hydration rate of the cement-based materials with auxiliary cementing materials, which should not be neglected in the production of steam components.
