Abstract Ecofriendly fouling release coating has limited antifouling efficiency under static conditions. In this work, a representative silane coupling agent and three different types of vinyl unsaturated fluoromonomers were used as raw materials. We studied the influence of polymerization conditions (reaction temperature, the types and application amount of initiator) on the products by varying the polymerization process and obtained copolymers with the number average molecular weight of less than 1 000 Da and a narrow distribution. On-line calorimetry system, Raman spectroscopy, infrared spectroscopy, and online infrared technology were used to characterize the polymerization process. The experimental results show that the functional oligomer was obtained through the free radical copolymerization of the alkene group, and the exothermic reaction is concentra-ted in the first dripping stage. The attachment test of biofouling of sample plates in the sea proves that the addition of oligomer can effectively improve antifouling perfomance of the fouling release coating.

He has received the second prize of marine technology and technology, and the outstanding young science and technology ta-lent award of Shenyang Branch of Chinese Academy of Sciences. His research
interest is the research of marine corrosion and biofouling protection technology development. He has conducted more than 10 projects, including the National Key Basic Research and Development Program Subproject, the National Natural Science Foundation Project, and the National Natural Science Foundation Youth Project. He has published more than 100 research papers, published in the journal Top 5% journal Corrosion Science and ACS Applied Materials and Interfaces.Currently, he is a member of the editorial board of international journals such as NPJ-Materials Degradation, a journal of the Nature Publishing Group.
