Abstract: High quality WC-12Co coatings were prepared by APS on Q235 steel. The microhardness, thickness and bonding strength of WC-12Co coatings were evaluated comprehensively. The Box-Behnken experiment was designed via three factors, including spraying current, argon volume flow and spray distance. AHP was used to determine the weight of evaluation index.Grey relational analysis and regression analysis were used to optimize the process. Results showed the weight matrix of evaluating indicators obtained by AHP was Wj=[0.44,0.17,0.39] that the optimal parameters obtained by the method of grey relation analysis were argon volume flow of 2 500 L/h, current of 350 A, and spraying distance of 130 mm. The optimal parameters obtained by the method of regression analysis were argon volume flow of 2 500 L/h, current of 349.08 A, and spraying distance of 129.18 mm. The optimization results of the two methods were basically the same, which can be applied to the multi-objective optimization of process parameters.
