Study on Damping Performance of Foam Butyl Rubber Filled with Rare Earth Filler |

Abstract A kind of foam butyl rubber with good damping performance was prepared. The effects of foam, type of reinforcing agent and type of packing on the damping performance of foam butyl rubber were studied, and the appearances of pores were characterized. The results show that the damping performance of foam butyl rubber is better than the unfoamed one. The loss peak of foam butyl rubber filled with white carbon is significantly higher than the one of foam butyl rubber filled with carbon black, but the foam butyl rubber filled with carbon black has wider effective damping temperature range. Moreover, the damping performance of foam butyl rubber filled with Gd2O3 is good because Gd2O3 is a kind of magnetic filler. The pore size and distribution of foam butyl rubber filled with Gd2O3 is uniform, and most of pores are closed.
