Research Progress of Shape Memory Polyurethane Materials |

Abstract Shape memory polyurethane(SMPU) is a novel class of intelligent polymer materials that can recover the permanent shape in responsive to external stimuli.Base on different applications, shape memory polyurethane can provide a deployable property,shape fix and recovery property and controllable shape recovery velocity and shape recovery force.Many triggers such as heat,electronic,light,magntic can be used to activate the shape memory properties by direct or remote way. Shape memory polyurethanes show significant technological applications ranging from biomedical devices to aerospace technology.The structure, shape memory mechanism and classification of SMPUs are introduced,and factors which influence the shape memory properties are discussed.The applications of SMPUs in different fields based on above content are summarized.Finally,the future development of SMPUs with the network structure are prospected.
