Analysis and improvement: Impact Failure of X12CrNi13 Used in Control Rod Drive Mechanism Coupling Sleeves |

Abstract The control rod drive mechanism (CRDM) is an important component of the pressure boundary of the nuclear reactor power plant coolantsystem.As the core components of CRDM, The coupling sleeves is used to connect the control rod assembly to realize the all functions of reactor power.After the performance heat treatment of X12CrNi13 martensitic stainless steel used in coupling sleeves of a project,the impact failure of product samples appeared.This article points out the problem through cause analysis and verification test, which is mainly caused by Insufficient duration of tempering heat treatment during performance heat treatment.Finally, through the addition of a tempering heat treatment,the impact failure of the coupling sleeves material was successfully solved, which provided empirical support for subsequent projects.
