Abstract With the increasing depletion of conventional energy resources, integrating renewable energy sources with high-efficiency energy storage devices has emerged as a critical research focus. This study presents a method utilizing carbon cloth as a self-heating conductor, assisted by air-blowing, to address the non-uniform temperature distribution during low-temperature Joule heating processes. This approach simultaneously accelerates air diffusion to the carbon cloth surface, thereby enhancing interfacial reactions on the fibers. Electrochemical characterization reveals that the activated carbon cloth prepared by blast Joule heating (BJH) at 400 ℃ (ACC-D400) achieves a significant areal specific capacitance of 256.8 mF·cm-2 at a current density of 0.4 mA·cm-2. In contrast, the sample processed without air blowing (ACC-S400) exhibits only 81.8 mF·cm-2. Analysis indicates that the BJH technique optimizes activation efficacy through uniform thermal field distribution and controlled air flow velocity, leading to enhanced charge storage performance. This method overcomes the limitations of conventional Joule heating for low-temperature material processing by transforming its “passive thermal dissipation” into the “active convection” characteristic of BJH, enabling precise temperature field control. Consequently, BJH facilitates superior regulation and acceleration of interfacial engineering on the carbon fibers, expanding the application potential of activated carbon cloth in the energy storage field.
