Effect of Anti Si ‘Poisoning' AlTiC-B Master Alloy on the Microstructures and Mechanical Properties of ZL114 Aluminum Alloy |

Abstract In terms of the coarse α-Al dendrites and refinement ‘poisoning' problems in hypoeutectic Al-Si alloys, an anti Si ‘poisoning' AlTiC-B master alloy has been successfully developed. This work studied the influence of the master alloy on the microstructure and mechanical properties of ZL114 aluminum alloy. The microstructure analysis and mechanical properties of ZL114 aluminum alloy were carried out by X-ray diffractometer, scanning electron microscope, Brinell hardness tester and universal testing machine. The results show that the α-Al grains of ZL114 alloy are significantly refined after adding 0.3wt%, 0.6wt% and 1.0wt% of AlTiC-B inoculation alloy. The average grain size drops from 1 224 μm to 186 μm, 122 μm, and 116 μm respectively;the room temperature yield strength increases from 250 MPa to 295 MPa, 340 MPa and 345 MPa, an increase of 18.0%, 36.0% and 38.0% respectively. The improvement of mechanical properties is mainly due to the refinement of α-Al dendrites and the homogenization distribution of eutectic Si after refinement.

Mainly engaged in the research of liquid metal cluster structure evolution and regulation theory, nano-seed alloy development and organization regulation, super heat-resistant high-strength aluminum alloy and its product innovation. Undertook more than 20 national and provincial and mini-sterial projects including the National 973 Project, National Outstanding Youth Fund, National Natural Science Foundation Key and General Projects;won 1 the first prize of Shandong Province Technical Invention Award and 1 the first prize of Shandong Province Science and Technology Progress Award, 4 national prizes for technological inventions, 5 provincial and ministerial second prizes, 28 national invention patents authorized and 18 industrialized, published more than 200 SCI papers and were cited more than 2 500 times, published monographs 2 unit. |
