Abstract Submersed nozzle blockage can cause billet to contain large size inclusions, cause flow field instability, further cause continuous casting interruption, and seriously affect billet quality and production efficiency. Therefore, it is of great significance to solve the blockage problem of immersion nozzle for stabilizing continuous casting production and improving the quality of billet. This paper describes the research status of the plugging mechanism of immersion nozzle at home and abroad, discusses the differences between different plugging mechanisms, puts forward the basic principles and research direction of preventing Al₂O₃ adhesion plugging, summarizes different anti-plugging measures, and makes a prospect for the future research of anti-plugging of immersion nozzle.

About author:: Xian Hao received her B.S. degree from Xi'an University of Science and Technology in 2019. She is currently pursuing her master degree from Sinosteel Luoyang Institute of Refractories Research under the supervision of Professor Hongxia Li. Her research has focused on electrochemical erosion of nozzle wall under interfacial electric field.Guoqi Liu, professor of engineering master supervi-sors.In1997, he graduated from Hebei Polytechnic University with a bachelor's degree in inorganic nonmetal.He gained his master degree from Sinosteel Luoyang Institute of Refractories Research in June 2000.He fi-nished Ph.D. program and gained materials science Ph.D. degree from University of Science & Technology Beijing in May,2006.He mainly engaged in gradient function refractories and containing-carbon refractory for basic and applied research. He has published more than 50 articles in domestic and foreign scientific journals,among which more than 20 have been included in EI or SCI.He has applied for 25 patents and obtained 20 authorized patents.
