Abstract Mortars made from manufactured and natural river sands with different gradations were prepared, and its rheology parameters (yield stress & plastic viscosity) were measured by rheometer. The experimental result indicated that the volume rate of sand, fineness modulus and content of stone powder have direct impact on rheology properties, meanwhile, the threshold volume rate of sand exist. Based on analysis on the fractal curve of sand particles, the quantity value of sand fractal characteristics were obtained, and then the fractal sums (Sy, Sv) were defined to express the exponential relationship with rheology parameters. Furthermore, based on the rheology prediction expression of suspension, the fractal sums were introduced and the prediction method is developed. From the experimental data, the related coefficients were derived by fitting and the modified equations were obtained. The calculated value and test value of rheology were compared and the result showed good consistency.
